Weems & Plath vs Trintec

Please tell me which you prefer, and why. Thanks!

Don't know if it helps you to know I'd never heard of Trintec 'til you posted this.

Not specifically-the companies and their products in general are what interest me.

W&P on a boat I worked recently. Very bad, very - the clock devoured the battery while the barometer seemed to overshoot actual changes.

These are mostly decorative things. You will want some sort of recording barograph (correct name?) for sailing probably.

Never buy a Weems and Plath radio controlled clock. You'll never know what time it is.

I was given a W&P clock/barometer set as a boatwarming gift. The clock is infuriating. The only way to reset it, for example to allow for Daylight Savings Time, you have to unscrew it from the bulkhead in order to access the controls. Same thing to change a battery, and the batteries on this clock go out ever six months.

To make things worse, the clock is noisy. When my mother sleeps in the cabin on the other side of this clock's bulkhead, I have to unscrew it and store it in a drawer.

It's obvious that the dude who designed this clock never owned a boat.

On the other hand, I've never heard of Trintec. I spent a few minutes on their website, and the product line seemed a bit chintzy.

The best clock: your GPS.
The best barometer: an Airmar P200 or Maretron WSO100

W&P.. geez

cheers,
Nick.
