Wash and wax

It has been awhile since I have needed to do this I am sure products have changed..


Looking for good lasting products to wash and wax the top sides with.
What are your proven brands and how often do you wash and wax your deck.
Would it vary form north to south locations?


What about turnbuckles, shackles, winches Pulpits and stanchions?

I use some sort of boat wash. When researching, I didn't see much of a difference between brands. Have been lightly washing about once a week. Not that helpful, sorry.

As for the wax, you want/need something that will protect while not being slippery on the non-skid. I have been using Marine 31 spray wax for non-skid. It does as a bit of shine (and hopefully protection) without making it slippery. Have noticed that it cleans up much easier, so that's cool. Think spills in the cockpit.

Have only done one application of Marine 31, so no long term details. Will try to redo once every 6 months here in the Caribbean. At $30 a bottle and my 38' sailboat needing two to three bottles, it isn't cheap.

Hopefully I'll be able to report back with more details one day...

Yes, Collinite is the bees knees for topsides. That article written by Mainesail is great. Followed it to the T and got excellent results.
