VETUS deck hatches (+)

have to choose between VETUS & GEBO MARINE hatches for new 45" sailboat,
VETUS approx 15% cheaper

any positive/negative opinions based on personal experience ?

these are mentioned (positively) in this forum once: Deck Hatches

but I suspect these are made by Chinese MAN SHIP MARINE ABOUT COMPANY
what does not sound good

This is an invariable problem with hatches and other marine hardware that are produced on distant shores with sub-standard labour and environmental laws. The factories in China and other countries that churn out cheap goods do not have to meet the same high quality standards as a manufacturing company in the United States or Canada. This means that a product that is made in North America by local skilled workers is far better in terms of service, quality and durability.

I have Gebo - like em, not a problem. They replaced OEMs.

And fwiw, Vetus are Dutch, why would anyone think they were Chinese?
