Has anyone done business with them recently? I placed an online order over a week ago and never got a confirmation or any other contact. I sent an email asking about it and never got a response. I just called and noone answered the phone. Are the out of business? Just unreliable?

Can someone recommend a more reliable source for Yanmar Parts?

You are correct Gord. I just noticed on their site they say the will not ship Yanmar parts to where I live. I wonder if they canceled my order because of that.

I am guessing this is due to Yanmar Cartel rules. Does anyone know who controls the territory that includes Texas? I am assuming there is at least one on-line source that can ship here, but the Yanmar site is not very helpful on this front.

If only I had been smart enough to buy this part from my local Yanmar dealer for 75% off before they went out of business two weeks ago. Knowledge always comes too late.

Torreson Marine or Marine Diesel Direct, whatever you want to call them has a pretty good rep -- in my experience they're extremely helpful and can get just about anything, but aren't especially fast or cheap......I've called them up a few times and found them very helpful but I haven't ordered much from them -- Tractor parts are much cheaper.....they say agricultural industrial not marine!

Yanmar divides up geographical territories for their distributors, so you have to find the one that can serve you where you live.

Depending on what you ordered and how desperate you are to get it, there is another alternative. When the Yanmar dealers informed me that the seals I ordered were not available in the US and I would have to wait 3 weeks to have them shipped from Japan with my boat accruing $44 per day in yard charges, I ordered them from an outfit in England over the internet. Even after the currency conversion the price was within a dollar of what I was quoted here. What I had to eat was $35 for fedex overnight shipping. So it cost me less than 1 day's yard fees to solve the problem. This sales territory thing is apparently a US thing and doesn't apply to the rest of the world. If what you need isn't too heavy, ordering from an overseas supplier might be a solution for you. It's no wonder the american economy is in such bad shape when we stick to atiquated territorial arrangements in a global economy.

Marine Engine Repair (MER) 800- 777-0714 in Seattle WA has good stock of parts and can get within a week what they don't have. They will ship. Talk to Brian in parts, or Stevie who does everything there but twist a wrench.

Just completed 3gm overhaul w/all parts purchased from Torrenson on line and over phone.They were very helpful,I couldn't get much help from Mastery Marine in Florida who was supposed to ship to my area [Tn.].Torrenson shipped to another add. I could use that was in their area.I had no trouble contacting them at all.

My friend who lives in Holland which is 20 miles away said they are still around.
