Surveyor in Minnesota

I’m still seeking references for a Yacht Surveyor, who could travel to Lake City, Minnesota (± 1 Hr S of Twin Cities).
I have an unverified reference for;
Charlie A. Lopez @ C & K Marine, LLC
3011 Fifth Avenue NW, Rochester, Minnesota
Does anyone have experience with Mr Lopez, or C&K Marine?

Would you like me to ask the folks I took ASA 101 from? Scheduling some BVI ASA 103/104 classes with them too, joined up for their boat club deal too. They seem like good folks, Captain Thom runs the place.

I wish I could help, best I could do is look at the ads in the back of their magazine as I recall one or two ads back there.

Yes, please ask the good folks, from whom you took ASA 101.
Any personal experience will be appreciated.

Gord,
You might check with Allan Hansen at Hansen's Harbor in Lake City. He does advertise as a boat surveyor. I can't vouch for his surveying but he and his dad do a lot of boat repair and rebuilding. My dealings with them have been good. (651) 345-3022. Hansen's Harbor, harbor, marina, lake city, minnesota, dock space, boat storage, boat rentals, marine diesel service parts, towing

Sorry, they were of not much assistance at all.

They suggested calling Hooper's Yachts - Upper Mid-West Sailing Experts. Sailboats our specialty. and asking them.

The prospective purchaser has hired a surveyor, Phil Peterson (NAMS-CMS), out of Bayfield Wisconsin.

Does anyone know, or know of, him?

Thom Burns, the publisher of Sailing Breezes/Northern Breezes magazine <http://www.sailingbreezes.com/>, seems to respect Peterson.

I knew Tom Burns when I lived there as well as a bunch of the Northern Breezes people and he is respectable as is all the folks at Northern Breezes. Contacting any of them couldn't be a bad idea. I've been in touch with any of them in more than 5 years through. Being out of Bayfield isn't really close.

So far I've always done best with the approach if you can call the guy on the phone for a few minutes you can decide if you think he is a jerk or not and if he is available. After that you may run of of potential surveyors.

Thanks Paul - you're point is well taken.
In this particular case, because I'm not the purchaser, and want to limit my involvement, I don't feel it's appropriate for me to interview surveyors.
I'm trying to remain (merely) a casual advisor.
