Survey in Grenada

I am looking at a boat in Grenada. Can anybody recommend a good surveyor & mast rigger ? Is Clark's Court Marina a fair Haul-out & Storage facility? Would my boat be safe there through Hurricane season... should I take the mast down ? When would be the best date to re-launch ?

Re: Survey in Grenada

Can't make a recommendation but you should be just fine in the water mast up during hurricane season. Grenada is usually far enough south to rarely get hit hard. People that don't want to haul out for the season take their boats down there just because of that. If you do take her out, end of October is usually when you are good to go far as the hurricane season being over.

Bob did an insurance survey for us in 2012. Found crevice corrosion in one of the chainplates that was missed when we replaced our standing rigging in 2010. Very thorough!

Re: Survey in Grenada

Thanks Everyone,
Unfortunately Bob Goodchilds will be out of the country when I require the survey done.He is visiting daughter in Australia of all places, so we will be swapping countries for a short time.I have another Surveyor organized, Neil Batcheler, Bob recommended him they previously worked together. He seems like an OK guy.

Regards, Sinkum Aussie, Ha !! I thing I might change my name ?

Re: Survey in Grenada

Our Outremer is hauled a Clarke's court right now . They are very helpful. the yard is still under construction so not every thing is in place . We used Neil Batchler when we bought our boat and he did a fantastic job. We also have used Richard at turbulence . Clarke's Court is an open yard so you can get anyone you like to work on your boat .
