The only problem I am having with this is the noise it makes. The belt squeaks like crazy. While not a problem when motoring, under sail it more than annoying. Any suggestions?

Trim your sails and turn the response down to 1 or 2. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else you can do... Louder cockpit radio maybe?
