Question for military aircrew people

I looking for coveralls for a bottom sanding job in the tropics. It will be around 90deg and 80% humid and it's black paint. Are military flight suits breathable and pretty much wash and wear?

When I worked in a yard all I wore was a pair of shorts and a tyvek suit. It's still hot and muggy, but bearable. Overalls were just too hot.

And they are thin, but surprisingly hot, I assume the OD green may be why.
Nomex is actually an Aramid fiber if memory serves and I want to think stain resistant. They are definitely wash and wear, I've washed many a pair in a "waterproof bag"

$39 and you can get them in Boeing test pilot orange too. Maybe I need to keep looking for something light weight but cotton. Tyvek is totally out. I'm getting old and the sweat thing would kill me.

I believe you would be better off with Cotton, I hate glass fibers so much I'm afraid that is a job I'd hire out if possible

You could just order some disposable coveralls if they can get to your area. They are like $4.00 each or so.

Lots of folks were using those last winter in the yard I was in.

That's the ticket. Go to a thrift store and by some disposable "dead man's" cloths. Boat yard to dumpster.

Perhaps it's a silly question. But do you have a good dust collection system on your sander(s) & grinders? If not, that takes a lot of the problem out of the equation before it even starts.

Local surplus store.
Turned out some test pilots use 55% cotton 45% poly Orange flight suits. They must be brave, cotton? I will look like a con untill it turns black.

Cotton and wool and other natural fibers aren't that bad, no they don't protect you from being burnt, but modern plastics will actually melt into your skin and You have to be debrieded I think the term is, melted plastic and skin have to be removed.
Leave the sexy nylon underwear at home, if your doing any test flying.

The Nomex flight suits don't breath and are hot. Been awhile since I flew in the Navy so don't know what they are wearing now. Nomex is a synthetic material that doesn't melt. It's what the firemens suits are made out of. You can buy throw away coveralls fairly cheaply often sold by the boat yard. They don't breath all that well but anything that you are buying to keep stuff off your skin will probably not be good at letting perspiration and heat out. Goodwill is a good source of cheap work clothes as others have mentioned, btdt.

I got $9.00 light weight plastic of some kind, white coveralls from Home Depot. they were great and not unbearably hot!

Another good source of disposable clothing is to try uniform rental companies I have purchased used shirts for less than 1$ US and pants for about 2$ US then dispose them.
