Perkins 4108 parts

I barely believe it myself, but i ordered some misc parts for my Perkins on Sunday as i drove down the freeway from the boat in Corpus Christi back to Colorado Springs, wife was driving. The parts arrived at my front doorstep Tuesday morning. Crazy, in America it takes a week or longer to get a 1st class letter from coast to coast yet the UK gets me a box of parts in a day and half.
Parts4Engines for Perkins & Volvo Penta Engine Parts beats the heck out of TAD diesel. The website is great, you can order immediatly, all the prices are listed and they shipped my items before TAD had even called me back.

Re: Perkins 4108 parts

I wonder if you order parts from a computer you get the same kind of service that you do from a human. For example, there are several classes of pistons for a 108. They all have a different height. The standard piston is .020 oversize. If you used one, your engine would blow up. The people who are a little slow to get back to you, know you will need the class "S" piston which gives you the .0085-.012 deck height. Guess it depends on what you are ordering.

Re: Perkins 4108 parts

You are absolutley correct. I prefer the human contact and relationships with my contractors and suppliers for the important stuff. BUT, when i need a generic part, i want it and i want it now. I want to know how much it costs, what it looks like amd i want to walk out with it so i can move on to other things. I'm currently working with great people at WestMarine, Garhauer, Sailcare, Mile High powder coating, a marine electrician and a guy to clean my hull when i'm not there. If i need an oil filter, some rubber grommets and some gaskets though, that's a little different. It shouldn't take two days to buy an oil filter amd have to request a quote for small items. Besides, parts4engines.com sold me double the stuff, in half the time for half as much, and they are real people providing great service and a quality product in a timely manner.
If you guys have a better service provider i'm all ears.
