Re: Keeping Stainless shiny

I know I may be a bit thick here but "some" Stainless does stick to magnets, otherwise all those nice stainless Knives I have that are stuck to the kitchen wall with the magnetic knife holder would be on the floor?

You are correct, 304 stainless steel is a little magnetic and is sometimes use for bolts as it’s a bit stronger.

316 SS is not magnetic and that is what Bimini’s, Stanchions and most other boat hardware is made from.

Re: Keeping Stainless Shiny

I was an early user of Spotless Stainless. I'm not that much of a fan... I had a problem getting it to rinse off.

On the other hand, I LOVED "Miracle Cloth". It's been the top product at Practical Sailor for many years. I used to be to find it at West Marine. They discontinued it. BUT, I FOUND IT!

Miracle Polishing And Cleaning Cloth . The original Miracle Cloth which has proven to out clean and polish any other product.

Best part is that it was $15 a pop at WM, and it's 3 for $20 direct. We have compared the 2, and it's the same product.

Best

Re: Keeping Stainless Shiny

Flitz is my favorite. Discovered it while captaining a charter yacht in the BVI's some years ago and found it to be hands down the best I've used before or since.

Actually 400 series stainless is magnetic. This is so stainless knives can be hardened to hold an edge.

Re: Keeping Stainless Shiny

I use Ako stainless cleaner spray. Works very well and a reasonable price. Available in Germany mainly.
