Thumbs up Gill Warranty

Just wanted to let everyone know that my loyalty to Gill has grown more. I had a KB1 Race Smock which I bought 15+ years ago. It had served me very well, but was wearing out around the neck and wrists. I sent it in for possible repair or maybe get a partial credit to their new Fusion smock since KB1 is discontinued. They informed me they would be sending out the new Fusion when they became available. $375 everywhere. Got the Fusion today and am very pleased with the fit and finish.

Re: Gill Warranty

Wow! That's great service! Good on you for mentioning it, too.

I have one of their foul weather bibs, and they are still "new", as is the jacket, and it's good to hear they took care of your situation so well.

Re: Gill Warranty fail

I'm glad you had a good experience - because I have to tell you that my experience was HORRIBLE.

I have a women's offshore jacket that I have used ~20 times. The rubberization on the cuffs deteriorated (tiny bits all over my wrists and hands) so I sent pictures to Gill. They said they could not replace the jacket - that particular model is no longer produced - and instead offered me a discount on a new one. (Not helpful, if I want a discount I can just buy on sale!)

I didn't want to replace an otherwise serviceable jacket so I asked if they could send me replacement cuffs. I heard nothing until I followed up about two weeks later and got a message which read - and this is the full text - "Sorry I don't have cuffs."

I bought Gill for its durability. Gill's warranty clearly covers this kind of deterioration. I sent a copy of the warranty to the customer service rep asking why they aren't living up to their warranty. Again, crickets.

Very disappointing! My sailing family has invested a lot in Gill gear over the years. I guess it is time to try a more durable and responsive brand.

Re: Gill Warranty

I had a Gill jacke and it went South almost as soon as the warranty expired. Never buying this (----) again.

My guess is you had an older model. Stuff used to be done so much better before !!!
