Fuel Whistle

I bought a "Fuel Whistle" to prevent overfilling of my tanks and spilling fuel out the vent. In theory, the whistle, installed in your fuel vent line, will whistle until fuel reaches that level. When the whistling stops, your tank is full.

My fuel whistle didn't work at all. I filled my tank with a siphon hose so there was low volume of fuel going in and air coming out. I sent an email to manufacturer and he said to put some rags around the funnel to keep air from escaping from the fill hose. That didn't work. Next time I refueled, I used a high volume marina hose and that didn't work either. Once again, I've been had!

Anyone have a good experience with a fuel whistle?

Is your "Fuel Whistle" installed very nearly vertical, with the arrow pointing up to vent cap?
I've has several friends & customers report that theirs worked (more or less) as advertised.

Gord, It is installed correctly. When I first got it I put my mouth on it and blew. It took a lot more air than I was expecting to make it whistle. Maybe I got a bad one.
