Mounted on deck one might actually be able to sail provided the genset was running. A slightly underpowered air boat that was quiet. Could be a seller. Might be something for Gideon. Worst case sceanrio - you could cool the engine.

The Caframo is model 747 or 757 the 747 available at Home Depot has a plug on the end check polarity as I recall wiring with lettering is positive cut plug and wire into system

I recently began using a Vornado fan at home, and it does an amazing job. Really circulates a lot of air throughout the room and cools it down quite a bit, even at low speed which is extremely quiet. It includes a clip mechanism so it can be moved to different parts of the boat... even the cockpit on those windless days!

I'm going to try using it with a small inverter on the boat. The bigger Caframo looks a lot like it... blade shape and the structure around the fan really make a difference.

Knuckle Dragger is a more-or-less meaningless, but always derogatory, term.
A “knuckle dragger”, depending upon context, might be reminiscent of the hunched over cave man, with his arms to the ground - and thus an insult used against those of extremely low intelligence, or general stupidity.
Some use “knuckle dragger” as a racial epithet, referring to southern white trash, of limited intelligence. Others reverse that meaning.

i have 2 caframo bora fans on my boat one in the salon and one in the vberth i find them excellent. very quiet draw 0.25amps each on high really help on those hot windless afternoons.

It's hard to beat the Hellas for being quiet and drawing little power. The price is absolutely ridiculous. They appear to be a $12 item construction wise. But they are a good product. Most boat fans I've tried are cheap crap, noisy, rust easy etc.

I have Calframo's (Hmm... 10 of them) mounted throughout the boat. The ones mounted to the hull of the boat are very quiet. The ones mounted on the counter top make a lot of noise because of the vibration being passed and reverberated to through the hollow counter top. If I remount them, I'd make sure I put in a rubber insulation gasked between the flange and the mounting surface. Unless someone has a better idea?

Oh, very reliable, but I have had to replace the plastic fan blades, after 10 years, they just wore out and pretty much disintegrated.

I have them all, Hella, Caframo and all models of them incl. the newest and expensive Caframo's. They all suck. The biggest problem is that they don't balance the blades anymore so they vibrate themselves to death. I have some Hella's that tore off the bulkhead and spewed parts because of their wild vibration. It's so bad I'm affraid of them when turning them off.

The ones that don't vibrate brake within a year or so. The best DC fans I had were those 10" big ones that WM sells (RV stuff, forgot the name); they lasted a year without excess vibration.

We now have $10-$30 AC fans and they do what they are supposed to. I put that DC crap to rest. Some of them work for years now, used every day.

my fans have been working great no vibration. and for $9.95 i got a 3yr replacement warranty from WM so if after 2yrs they pack it in they give me a new one

Different concept. The Nicros fans can ventilate but the system I had would suck a 10 kt breeze down the companionway and out the forward hatch. Moved way more air volume than the Nicros. Also you only need one fan to cool the whole boat, just crack a hatch over any area you want a breeze and the suction out the forward hatch will draw a stream of fresh, outside air in. Even works with CC/aft cabin if you have a walkthrough but you may need to close off the companionway to get breeze from all the way aft.

After one of my crew members rigged this system we tossed all the little cabin fans. Didn't need them at all.
