Bruce Schwab /Ocean Planet Energy

I just wanted to let everyone know about my experience with Bruce from Ocean Planet Energy . 3 years ago I prchased some Fireflys from a different vendor and this year I did a major upgrade in my solar capability, I have purchased nothing from Bruce (I live in Canada). The first year some of the vent caps seeped fluid a little and Bruce got replacements in days . This year I had some questions regarding controller set up and he responded quickly and with genuine interest .
I would suggest that using Ocean planet would be good move for anyone.
Thanks Bruce

Aww come on, FB! What's the story behind that pic?

Re: Bruce Schwab /Ocean Planet Energy

We are in the middle of an extensive refit, part of which Bruce is assisting us with. We initially began working with him when we were moving toward a hybrid electric repower. Ultimately we did not go with hybrid, but we did stay with Bruce to design our solar and lithium power plant.

He is by far proven himself to be an amazing engineer. He is also incredibly knowledgeable regarding lithium and it's vast improvements and safety features. I can not say the same regarding other individuals that hold themselves out to be experts in the field.

That's because I had just cleaned it the day before.

That pic was taken during Bruce's pre-Vendee Globe inversion test. I was the safety diver. Bruce was inside the boat, running back and forth on the cabin ceiling, trying to get the boat to right itself with the 90-minute time limit. He made it- just.

Re: Bruce Schwab /Ocean Planet Energy

I thought that might be the source of that photo! Sure glad we mortals don't have to go to such extremes with our boats... but I guess it does get all that crap out of the bilges!

Thanks for the rest of the series/

Jim

That’s been my experience too. I would add that it seems that coastal cool aids and Bruce and emarine make the purchasing and subsequent service a seamless experience. So regardless of where you end up buying and servicing your equipment there are always a bunch of great companies out there supporting you.

Used Bruce’s company for flexible solar panels, controller and advice. They are highly professional and work well with sailors who contact them from a distance. Highly recommend this group.

Interesting. I was nearby when the late Derek Hatfield did this test in his Open 40, the Spirit of Canada. It's a big alarming to see, actually.
