Re: "Best" manual vacuum oil evacuator?

Missed this thread earlier, but I use the Jabsco hand pump

I shortened the discharge hose to a length of about 3 or 4 inches and pump into a one gallon oil or antifreeze container while gripping the pump and "handle"of the container in one hand. Containers with the "horizontal" handles work best.

Nice thing is now the oil is in the container that goes ashore, not something that then has to be drained.

Re: "Best" manual vacuum oil evacuator?

I have a Marpac vacuum unit, which I like except for three problems:

1) As a64 mentioned, it does not seal. The pour spout at the top for emptying it has a plug on it which is friction and not secure.

2) The extraction hoses on it are very stiff (they have a wire in them to aid in flow), are difficult to stow as a result, and take quite a while to "drip dry" which exacerbates the stowage issue.

3) I can't drain all the oil in my engine in one go; I have to empty the unit into a holding container and then go back and get out the last ~2 quarts.
