Best Atlantic ICW Chartbook

We are about to set sail down the Atlantic ICW and are decideing which chartbook to get. In your experiences which should I buy? So far I am comparing:

The Intracoastal Waterway Chartbook, Norfolk, Virginia, to Miami, Florida 5th edition

and

Dozier's Waterway Guide Atlantic ICW 2010

The two Maptech chart books (1. FL north 2. FL and Keys) seem to be the standard.

I've used the Kettlewell Guide (the first of the two you mentioned) and been happy with it. It's small enough to not get in the way in the cockpit and well organized.

But Kettlewell's Chartbook doesn't include enough charting off the AICVW for anchorages, inlets etc. We use both, the Maptech and the Kettlewell. We are sorry we don't have the Waterway Guide for repair yard info. The Moieller/Kettlewell Cockpit Cruising Guide is a waste of money. Skipper Bob's anchorages is helpful.

Thanks, I cant seem to find a Maptech Chartbook for the whole ICW, only parts.

We did purchase the Skipper Bob publication.

Bright Eyes, Waterway Guide is a reference book, the 2011 Edition is available, and not a chartbook so they really don't compare. The Maptech Chartbooks are probably the most used and we have them on board. We do prefer Kettlewell's for the ICW since it is smaller and easier to use at the helm. Maptech gives more charts off the Waterway if you plan on excursions often. Both leave out some offshore information and we purchase NOAA charts for some offshore and inlets. I don't know of any one size fits all chartbooks. Chuck

Agreed. I carry Steve Dodge's Inlet chartbook and Kettlewell's on deliveries. On my own boat I also have Skipper Bob's anchorage book, but haven't really needed it to find good anchorages when I'm making time on the ICW.

We use maptech chartbooks and Skipper Bob Anchorages Along the Intracoastal Waterway. Skipper Bob's books are great and inexpensive.
