Battery Supplier - The Solar Biz

Just want to report on what I found during my search for replacement batteries. This is based upon my 2-day search only - you may find better deals but I could not.

The Solar Biz (THE SOLAR BiZ - Solar Power Systems for a Sustainable Future) is an outfit based in New Mexico. They have connections to many distributors around the country, and herein lies the value.

If they have a distributor near you, delivery is often FREE. In my case I was able to pick up my batteries locally - but only because I was in a hurry. Else they would have been truck-delivered to me at no charge on the next run through my area by the local distributor.

Trojan T-105s, brand new w/full factory warranty were $109 each. I paid a pickup fee of $4 each - so I guess you could say shipping cost me $16. This price was about $20 per battery cheaper than anything else I found, plus no shipping charges. Other local suppliers only had "T-105 equivalent" batteries that were also more expensive.

Customer service was good - friendly sales staff. Not lightning fast but good service overall.

I recommend them to anyone searching for a low-cost supplier for Trojan batteries. I'm not affiliated with them in any way other than being a satisfied customer.

I saw nothing, in my (admittedly) brief perusal, beyond their "salt water caution".
"CAUTION: to all salt water sailors... Chlorine gas, deadly in small doses, is the result of mixing sulphuric acid with saltwater. For this reason we don't recommend ever venturing out in salt water with Wet Cell batteries. Choose either a SOLAR STAR AGM, a LIFELINE AGM or a UPG AGM battery for your boat."

A rather shrill warning, in my view.

it was the type comparison section they would seem to favor AGM over all other.
i am intrested in marks desision and thinking behind his choice.

Same here. I am replacing my large house bank and have looked at the Trojan J185H x 6 for 600AH at 24v and wondered what the battery Gurus thought about that product.
