Anti-Rattle Door Fasteners from Jamestown Distributors

I posted the following review to the Jamestown Distributors review facility but over a week later it has not been posted despite having submitted with a confirmed reviewer e-mail address, an e-mail question about when the review would be posted and a follow-up e-mail stating that I would post the review here since Jamestown Distributors apparently were not going to post it. I should note that this morning they did post a very similar review that had been submitted by someone else way back in January. If that January review had been posted less than 2 months late I would not have placed my order.

The item in question: Anti-Rattle Door Fasteners

Quote:
Your Rating: 2 stars
Headline: Poor finish, not Seafarer

Best Uses : Small Jobs
Describe Yourself : Casual Do-It-Yourselfer

I ordered the fasteners to use dog down old-fashioned wood-framed hatches. The delivered product looks superficially like the image but has a really poor surface finish (looks like a sand casting !)and the hinge pins are not solid pins as in the image but instead tubular press-fitted inserts. The catalog description says they are by Seafarer but the packaging says they are made by Whitecap.
The picture below is what I included with the review.

I should also mention that when I contacted Seafarer about the item they confirmed that it was not manufactured by them. I ordered 5 of them and they are all unusable.

This is the first shoddy or sub-standard product I have gotten from Jamestown Distributor and I'm surprised at both the quality and the lack of responsiveness. I hope it is a one-time event.

Thanks Gord, I may very well do that.

Too bad I didn't get what I ordered, it would have worked really well.

Interesting.

I sent Jamestown an e-mail telling them that since they hadn't posted my negative review I would post it in some of the boating/sailing forums I use.

They didn't reply to my message but when I went back today they had another damning review from January posted, with pictures similar to the ones I posted: Anti-Rattle Door Fasteners

I'm not sure what they are up to but someone seems to be asleep at the tiller at Jamestown !

Does anyone have contact info for someone at Jamestown who might want to know how they are messing up ? I think Jamestown is one of the good guys so I'd hate to see them brought down by this kind of don't-care service (not referring to this product specifically but to what is almost certainly a systemic problem).
