Alpha 3000 autopilot

Last winter, I left the west coast of Florida headed for my first solo trip to the Bahamas. My Alpha 3000 autopilot started acting erratic as I was crossing Florida bay on the second day out. On the 3rd day, the 25 year old equipment wouldn't function at all.
I sent an email description of my problem to Alpha Marine Systems. They responded immediately with a preliminary diagnosis of motor failure in the drive unit and suggested a test to further confirm their diagnosis.
After completing the test, I ordered a replacement motor and had it shipped to a nearby fedex office. The motor arrived 2 days later, and I received installation instructions by email. I replaced the motor while anchored in No Name harbor and continued my voyage with barely a blip to my schedule.
I had valued my autopilot for its reliability and low power draw. Now I also appreciate the company that built it and that continues to support its customers.
Thanks Alpha Marine.

Re: Alpha 3000 autopilot

Yep, I've had 3 of them, never had a failure, worked well up to 47 foot boat in any conditions I used it in. Good to hear their service was still robust as well.
