I guess this thread could also be entitled "Define Boat . . ."

This is from today's New York Times:

"CANBERRA (Reuters) - Two Myanmar fishermen have survived for almost a month in shark-infested waters by floating in a large ice box after their boat sank, rescue officials said."

I read this on fox news. I've always been fascinated by stories of lost at sea- amazing they lived so long in an ice cooler!!

If they can survive in an eskee for nearly a month, then I can feel pretty safe in a well built boat. Imagine if they put on a temporary rudder and mast/sail!! WOW

Now here is what is really funny...When a thread starts up here about a person's particular boat asking if it is suitable for offshore work. From now on we should tell them..."No, but try a cooler".

As I read the above threads there seems to be a common opinion that this is a cooler as we all use while cruising. The story says ice box being desk size. Having used these things while commercial fishing I can see them being usable. The poly ice boxes that are commonly used are insulated and won't sink. They are stronger than the average yacht. Other than not being dynamically designed for boating they would make good life boats, especially for smaller people as they are. If there were already a few fish in the bottom, well hell there is the food supply. LOL

Well thats bad first aid!

Even a kid should know not to let a patient drink as much as that initially.

Wet their lips and keep wetting them till medical attention. Or if away from medical attention only give them sips after they wet lips thing has happened for a while. Then little sips once every 5 mins.

And thats no normal ice box! Thats big enough for a family

Imagine it filled with beer!
