Slipped landing on a wet dock last September, watched a €100 pair of sunglasses sink as I lay crumpled in pain on the dock. X-rays were negative, thankfully.

Doc said it was a "deep bone bruise - it will hurt for a few weeks, and then be tender and even a little swollen for a long time 6, 9 or even 12 months isn't unusual."

He was right, it's only in the last month that the ongoing very minor swelling has gone away, but it's still tender to the touch in a couple places.

Getting old sucks - but it sure beats the alternative!
