Tethers and Dasiychains

The offshore rule requires that a percentage of tethers have either two legs, one no more than 1 M and the other no longer than 2 M, or that the tether be no more than 2 M and have a mid-point loop. But I am not aware of anyone who makes a tether with a mid-point loop.

A few posters have mentioned using daisy chains on smaller boats. Really, that is just a variation on the mid-point loop alternative, with more loops. I am concerned that climbing daisy chains don't have enough stretch, but I think they are keeping them short and elasticity is a separate subject anyway

So how do you use a single leg with mid-point loop or a daisy chain? I would like to hear actual experiences.

I've usd them for rope access but no onboard, I use a Grigri on the boat.

The daisy chains are nylon so not sure how you would realistically get more stretch.

The daisy chains are two layers of nylon plus stitching (which also stiffens them up) during a good portion of their length, so they are less elastic than nylon webbing alone. The elasticity of a nylon webbing tether is marginal to start with.

One of other problems is how to construct the mid-point loop so that it is strong in both directions. This is problematic, as these links show. A good, simple solution is not obvious to me, not without a lot of additional work, as we see on harnesses.
