We use this method on the cabin ports: stick a thin band of self ahesive vecro (the hard side) around the port, and use light fabric netting fabric: it will catch by itself on the velcro, without having to sew the soft side of the velcro.

We had left them in place during our passage from New Caledonia to Australia, with 2 days of 20-35kn of wind close-hauled: they hadn't moved.

Now, this is light cheap netting fabric and it will get burnt by the sun after a few months, but you just cut anothe patch: no need to cut to exact dimensions, just pull it tight to your likening and the velcro will hold it, then cut roughly around it if you want a clean look.

I whipped up a set of screens using fiberglass screen from the hardware store and half inch Velcro tape. I used contact cement to glue the Velcro to the screen and the frames as the summer heat softens the self adhesive and it won't stick. Very easy to store and UV proof.
