Self Test on EPIRB..?

Running a bit confused here on the self-test on the ACR 406 "Rapid Fix" beacon.
The thing tests ok, but I am trying to interface a fixed mount GPS and to verify the data, the book says the GPS self test comes 2.5 seconds after the primary test. Well, not so, and reading a different page of the book, the GPS test is said to occur early in the self test...

Having read technical manuals for 30 years I am used to the language and steps, procedures, etc., BUT wondering if this here problem is a typo.
Too late in the day to call the factory, therefore checking to see if others have faced the same problem?
