Re: Reflective tape experience

After our dinghy went floatabout in the Whitsunday Is., a long time ago, we have been putting "dots" of 3m Solas tape on the top and sides of the outboard and bow, stern and sides of the dinghy, to facilitate search should it happen again. The tape on this present engine is about 6 yrs. old, now, and starting to get ratty.

Friends of ours ran a racing stripe just under their toe rail on the outside of the hull out of the truck reflective tape, about 2 cm. wide, and it shows up very well at night, as well as indicating the length of the vessel.

The boat is pretty easy to find at night; it's two LED anchor lights form a distinctive pattern which can be seen quite well for fairly long distances.
