After our dinghy
went floatabout in the Whitsunday Is., a long time ago, we have been putting "dots" of 3m Solas tape on the top and sides of the outboard
and bow, stern and sides of the dinghy
, to facilitate search should it happen again. The tape on this present engine
is about 6 yrs. old, now, and starting to get ratty.
Friends of ours ran a racing
stripe just under their toe rail on the outside of the hull
out of the truck reflective tape, about 2 cm. wide, and it shows up very well at night, as well as indicating the length of the vessel.
The boat is pretty easy to find at night; it's two LED anchor
lights form a distinctive pattern which can be seen quite well for fairly long distances.
