Re: Paint ball with pepper spray?

It should be interesting to see stats on sailors with guns and distance they have sailed away from the US against those that haven't guns

Where I used to work, they used to keep a database of all of our shootings by year, with a brief report on every one of them, that went back about 15 years. There would usually be between 20 and 50 incidents a year.

Going through all of those incidents, (not counting the ones in Iraq and Afghanistan) I only found a handful of incidents where someone actually shot their gun dry and had to reload. Most were 1-3 rounds fired per person.

Another myth on stopping power, was how many people got shot, and didn't even realize it had happened, or kind of shrugged it off, until the gun fight was over. My partner was shot in the head, then shot the guy who shot him, and then walked to the ambulance, and then was hospitalized for over a month in recovery and almost died. You would generally think that once someone gets seriously shot in the head, that they wouldn't be a threat any more. Not always.

Good luck with that one. I doubt many folks who carry firearms on board their vessel would be willing to admit to it in a survey.

Maybe you could start by looking for boats with the sticker that shows a gun with a red line thru it - letting folks know there are no guns on board allowed or present.

Like what, radar hooked to an alarm? I can't really think of a way to install a fence around an anchored boat but I'm willing to entertain suggestions.

I believe simple motion detector lights may work. I don't believe they work on actual motion, I think they require movement of something warm, so if I'm right waves won't set them off, but a person will. I assume the intent is to be warned before someone boards the boat or possibly discourage boarding, not to know when someone is 100 ft away

After my chart plotter was stolen I bought a camera system and had it pointed to the cockpit. With the boat tied to the dock and that little motion it triggered. Any car/truck that went by triggered it. All memory taken up in less than a week. I put up a fake camera and a new chart plotter. It all lasted till I sold.

But totally useless on humans. A lame urban myth that keeps getting repeated.

Soapy water works just as good to kill hornets.

But does it work on the Green Hornet? Or maybe Kato?
