One Long sleeve shirt and/or sweater, one short sleeve shirt, one water repellent jacket, two pairs of swim trunks, one fishing rod with assorted lures, one pair of sunglasses, a pirate hat and a couple of cigars.

Use any space left over for bear/wine/rum (whatever you like)... oh, and a good book, and you'll be set for the trip.

Travel light and have fun.

In addition to above comments, also think about what I could buy there because you can't carry it on....

sunscreen, rum, knife, buy a secret food treat or two to share mid-passage to keep morale up.

Depends on time of year. This passage can be cold and wet or hot and steamy. First find out what will be provided for you on board such as flashlight, first aid kit, foul weather gear, sunscreen et al. I'm a maverick about shoes. I've seen to many ruined feet from going barefoot on shore, in the dink and on deck. So I'm for two pairs of good deck shoes, one to be dry at all times. I know many do not agree. Anyway, they learned in World War 1 that dry shoes and socks are a must. Good luck. Sounds like a fun trip.

Good advice above, I would add a great knife, 1/2 serrated, and a multi-tool.
I really like the SOG Flash II in yellow.

rum is bought in caribean , not usa. is tastier in carib... knife---dont bring it--you will have it taken. buy one there in san juan or in fajardo or somewhere. even n summer you may need a fleece in sea-- wind can be chilly. fleeece comes in light weight and havy--take light weight in summer. have a great trip.

if ye bring bear and have knife around bear's neck i dont think anyone will bother him for it.....just sayin....specially iffn he growls a lot....

Spare hat and spare sun glasses with keepers for both. They like to jump overboard.

Sun lotion (for the first few days put on sun lotion even under a t-shirt)

TSA won't allow the rigging knife as carry on and maybe or maybe not the PFD.

Where in the States? if south of Virginia, I wouldn't bother with fleece pants. Still have a warm hat as well as sun hats.

dont bring sunscreen--buy it there--tsa disallows all but original 3 oz containers of the killer stuff.

Fewer clothes, more money. Buy what you need in PR.
