You are very fortunate to be in a position to make that choice.
Of all the people I knew who died, I can't recall
any of them who would not have chosen to live. They are dead anyway. Circumstances did not allow them a choice.
I don't know about "laying awake at night worrying", but I think it is entirely reasonable to be aware of what risks are and what (if anything) to do about them.
I know that some people go through life without ever thinking about potential problems, but I am a lot more comfortable when I have some predictable security
in life. Not giving any thought to what might happen is actually MORE worrying than thinking about it.
