New PLB from Ocean Signal

Has anyone seen or have an opinion about the PLB1 from Ocean Signal?

I've not seen one, currently researching in the purchase of a PLB myself.
I did find an interesting insight into the unit from a respected person in the SAR business.

I see the smaller size as a positive improvement.

SMALLER means it is more likely to be worn and NOT left in a locker or bag that is separate from the person in distress.

Re: New PLB from Ocean Signal

My wife and I dive sometimes just the two of us from a dinghy. I am thinking to put one in a watertight canister and attach inside each of our BC pockets. Smaller is better to me because less buoyancy. It will also attach to a PFD too. But we have an EPIRB for the boat.

I think in many circumstances, a smaller PLB would be useful, but the size is some thing I am considering carefully. As I sail most of the year round, I know quite well how useless my fingers become after being out in sub zero conditions for a few hours.

In the circumstances that transmitterdan talks about, then a small PLB will prove to very useful.

Mine is attached to my lifejacket/harness so small is an advantage.
