Re: Mossberg 500 Mariner in the Med.

Axes / Tomohawks - you don't know how to use one, obvious. Throwing is NOT an option. Put it to you this way, why throw away a perfectly good weapon?

Best weapon is an entrenching shove. BUt with both you need enough room to swing a cat.

CQ - a decent long knife is the best weapon. give one to a 4' 2" 12 year old girl and she'll cut you to ribbons. Better than a handgun.

As for your shotgun, its much longer than 4 inches so they won't even notice

Knives make very bad weapons IMHO , unless you have been trained in such combat, you are likely to do little damage , and to do, requires you come in close contact with the assailant. That requires either complete surprise or virtually overpowering the assailant, hence allowing a knife attack. ( typically this will land you in gaol by the way. ) if one analysis street fights, either a knife is used after superiority is achieved or used in surprise before the receipent was aware.

What a 12 year old girl can do with a knife is beyond me, I mean they can't even chop onions with them at that age.

Didn't I mention CQ?
I could counter your street fight analysis with other facts.
The training is relatively simple to achieve.
There are of course risks. knife fighting has personal risk.
I'll take a fixed blade long knife over a handgun inside a boat.

"What a 12 year old girl can do with a knife is beyond me, I mean they can't even chop onions with them at that age."

Thats my point. Its an equalizer.

.
Why, force at a distance is always preferable. Given no issues with legalities, I would say a handgun is ideal inside a boat

Man, I was just trying to show my homie Kenomac this completely ridiculous new marinized shotgun. Didn't mean to restart the usual argument!

I like the dual tubes with select fire from either tube. Options are good! You'd probably get arrested or have it confiscated in most places, but there it is. Apparently the choice of pro security contractors when it comes to blasting Somali pirates from a moving deck.

Me too, but when I would use my Hammerli 280, the attacker may laugh himself silly when he sees it pointed at him

Still, it would be effective because target shooters have the accuracy for the small calibre. Unfortunately, handguns are a no-no with customs so out of the question to take these with you aboard. I had to sell my Hammerli… and Anschutz…

Oh I know, handguns are a huge no no on an boat outside the US.

I carry a couple of flare guns. They're legal in every country and they make a hell of a mess of a pirates skiff.

Unless you are going to the far eastern areas (some concerns), or to northern Africa (plenty of concerns), what are you concerned about protecting yourself from? Not a troll question, just never felt any unease in my albeit limited experience in the Med.

Really? I had no idea you needed a license in the UK for a flare gun. I stand corrected.
