KPM Predator Bilge Pump?

OK, I'm about to spring for an $800 KPM Predator macerating bilge pump with a 3ft extension macerator to reach to the bottom of our bilge. Any opinions, any users of the same pump out there? Presently, our boat just has a Jabsco piston driven pump which I rebuilt last season. It looks like a toy compared to the KPM Pedator.

It's supposedly made to chop up even small children who might obstruct the inlet. The trouble we have, is that debris finds its way into the bilge whenever we travel through some foul weather, then it plugs up the inlet screen. Peeling paint chips, sawdust, little bits of plastic, etc.

I want something that's going to pump water no matter what.

Yea... amazing how much stuff continues to migrate to t he bilge years after construction. How about a stainless screen or strum box made of perforated metal?

Re: KPM Predator Bilge Pump?

We already have a screen, it gets plugged up mostly with peeled bilge paint.
