Kidney Stones

I had kidney stones once, back in 1990. I was in the US Navy at the time. And my ship had only left Fort Lauderdale.

Talking about when you cannot urinate, when you need to urinate. That sucks!! And the pain that can come from that. The Lieutenant who examined eventually got the stone sample from me the next day. After being bedridden for (two) days in sickbay.

I wouldn't wish this kind of pain on anyone. What I went through really Sucks!! And I hope that no one here has to go through that.

Gout. See the other thread. I never had it. Hope I never do?

I have had gall stones and believe that they are akin to the Kidney stones for pain.

Dont come close to that experience with a full-on attack of Gout. First time I had one, If i had had an axe by my bed I would have cut my foot off.

Well, an axe wouldn't of helped me out, in that senario. It would've just finished me off, for good. ;-)

I'm carrying one right now.

It must be fairly small, I've only had one major attack a couple of weeks ago. But it's not restricting enything.
I started piss'n blood in the midddle of Oct.

They've poked and prodded at me and the dang thing still hasn't come out yet. And I'm still piss blood once in a while. I know I have one! It showed up on the MRI.

I also had one twelve years ago. That one HURT, at least once a day for about two weeks. When it did finally come out is was about the size of an olive pit.

On top of that I just had a cervical operation on the #5 & 6. Back on the 21st of Nov. This is not fun either, still having trouble swollowing. Nice scarrrrr too!

That's why my name has been in the postings a lot lately. Sitting at home!

Delmarrey.

Didn't the doctors try using ultrasound to break up the stones? I just thought I'd mentione that treatment, since you didn't mention that?

Take more calcium. I don't know why, when the stone it'self is calcium. But medical reports ahve shown that people on good diets of calcium are far far less prone to the stones and the ones that sem to suffer, seem to have little calcium in their diets.

As for my kidney stine incident. I only had it that one time.

Since then, I have been providing more calcium than before that incident. But, honestly need to take more in.

As for delmarrey. I'm sure he'll find that out after reading your post. Providing he didn't know about that?

1) The stone is too small to justify ultrasound, It'll pass. When? who knows. But it's not causing any blockage.

2) As for calcium, I've been taking at least 1000 mg for the past 5 years. Now I'm taking 1500 mg for the neck bone too heal.
The doc. says; once you've had one, the chances are you'll have more. And he was right about that. It's all about how your system processes food.

Hopefully, it'll pass through. Just like the last one did almost 16 years ago.
