Hot Spots..where are they?

Am new to the crusing world. Planning our first trip this fall. Obviously, the thought of being boarded is beyond scary. We all know about the pirates off of Somalia, not going there. Planning to go to the Caribbean. Are there certain places to avoid? I went to Roatan, Honduras by air 5 times last year and have many friends who live there. Not sure I would cruise there. I am aware that anything can happen, anywhere, at anytime. Would just prefer to avoid areas that are considered "hot spots".
