Re: Honduras: Sailing Boat Boarded and Robbed by Pirates
Florida has pirates,,,,look up "joe kool miami" 4 people killed when boat hijacked out of miami by 2 people.
Accused ''Joe Cool'' killer to plead guilty
Many in the bahamas, lets not forget the caribbean, mexico, central and south america. Might be some on the great lakes but have not heard of any yet but you never know. forget africa. most of asia and parts of the med. Might be safer sitting in the middle of the atlantic with nobody else around. pirates are everywhere if you are not careful. The debate will never end on guns onboard. it is a personal matter.

zombies are coming, I forgot about that....but I don't see a boat hook working against a 45 or a machete in a closed quarters situation, too long and how many keep them inside.
Just remember, those bath salts are for bathing in not smoking or sniffing

That is just a street name - not made from actual bath salts (from what I can tell - just second rate meth)....and my bet is that the Zombie in question already had "issues".
But just in case, if I ever visit the US again will be sure to bring lots of guns .

To me the best high was up in the rigging on a tall sailing ship doing 10 knots 120 feet above the deck

Not so, I have gone in depth on the subject of a "well tuned" boathook here before! I have a couple of "attachments" for boat hook poles that tune them up quite nice. Try the Cold Steel Bushman, there are also some models that are already threaded, I have a Gerber. On a boathook that you can extend to 10', this could really discourage boarding! Legal by itself and quick to attach.

So still with the guns and flares and the like yet no one has fired one themselves?
Please...
...anyone actually fired one of these sleeved flare guns with a shotgun shell, even one with reduced powder? Or is it all classic hollywood bravado, with us all packin' but no one shootin'...except thier mouths...

nice video but notice that after he adds a pole to bend it to over 60 degrees they dont show it return to straight...
...and i would also put money down that both presenters have ssent their lives throwing knives in thier backyards or at competitions and never in their entire existance at actual people...
Irony aside...i get the whole threded knife thing and looking at these I am actually considering ordering one but...minaret, you are better than this hollywood style garbage as a contribution to this thread...

I have no doubt that a boathook so equipped will "discourage" a boarder, but I'm also thinking ... what next? I'm guessing these days they will have firearms and are really going to be pissed after you poke them with one of these. What's the chance they just back off a bit and fire a few rounds to soften things up? If its just some stupid kids f*#king around its one thing, but if they are more serious I don't think this is a solution. But it's your call.

Re: Honduras: Sailing Boat Boarded and Robbed by Pirates
video amounts to bringing a steak knife to a gun fight. 10 foot pole in a sailboat trying to strike someone??? not enough room to maneuver.
does someone think that they can throw that spear on a rolling boat and hit someone in a dingy. What do you do when there are 2 people????ask them for the spear back so you can throw it again??.
why not just get a bunch of walmart steak knives and start throwing them????? cheaper than the pole. You can always get a bunch of forks to throw at them and say FORK you as you throw them

He's a mix between tibetan mastiff and boerboel, south african lion-hunting dog.. Two the world's most protective breeds.. He will fight until death, and then minute or two..
I would like to see the pirate who willingly takes on this dog, with a spiked collar and a steel chestplate.
But he's kind as the day is long, once you are properly introduced.
edit: did I mention that i got his mother too? Pure boerboel
