Healthcare online outside your country

I was first excited to see my Blue Cross provider pushing an online Doctor visit by video but then annoyed when they refused because I was outside the country. Does anyone know....
1. If there are any online health providers that provide healthcare where ever you are and that accept Blue Cross Blue Shield? Looking at their website, it doesn't seem to be an option.
2. How can they tell if you are traveling overseas?
3. Do they check your IP address for country of location?
4. What is the reasoning behind them blocking travelers?
5. Has anyone been able to do this?

You could try using a VPN.

Telemedicine is a new and emerging field, and unfortunately it is hampered by two different areas - liability/license to practice medicine & whether an encounter is billable under regulatory rules. Current not very well suited for out of country unless it is your specific GP who has an existing relationship - some airlines also have exclusive telemedicine contracts, but those tend to be US flagged airlines with US based hospital systems.

How about TOR? Just to mess with them
And can't you block your addy?

Funnin aside, this idea is interesting. The virtual checkups I mean. Though it does have some obvious drawbacks.

Use a good commercial VPN and don't tell them where you are.

Also, disable all the geolocation services in your browers. See: How To Disable Or Fake Your Location In Firefox, Internet Explorer & Chrome

Better yet, use a secure browser:

Problem solved.

This is one of many incredibly annoying effects of location services. The virtual world is not set up for people who roam the world.

But the bigger problem is that if you don't take active measures to control how information about you (including your location) is used, you will be manipulated in all kinds of different ways.

The more our different life functions move into cyberspace, the more important this becomes.
