Not the AR15 which the US Military later designated the M16.

But I had a Canadian fellow with me in RVN. He didn't like the XM16E1's any more than us yanks did.

I would still prefer a full-auto M14, or a AK47, that unfortunately lost out to the AR15/M16.

As aggravating as the current asinine US gun laws currently are, I believe that much like DL's the Feds and states will have to agree on a system that allows hassle free ownership of, and sensible transportation of guns, ammo, etc..

I don't believe so. The AR15 was designed by Armalite which was a subsidiary of Fairchild. They licensed the design to Colt, which then sold the US army on using it. The AR designation reffers to the designer, Armalite.
The military designation for it is M16, but, aleast when I went through basic in 1971, many still referred to it as AR15.(At least my drill instructors did, and Sergeant Maxwell was ALWAYS right.)

BTW...Kalashnikov was the man who designed the AK47, the A stands for Automatic. They didn,t have manufacturers in the soviet union. Kalashnikov worked for arms factory number 2.

Thanks mate, the rifle I carried around for a while was an Israeli knock off of the A.K. 47 called the Galiel? The south africans called it the R4.

It was a tually a much better weapon for adverse conditions than the AR15. It ws designed such that the parts did not have to be machined to such fine tolerances and therefor were less likely to jam when dirty. That was a problem with the AR. And it could be manufactured in countries with less well developed industries..subsequently there have been more AK's and their knock offs than all the other military rifles combined.

- Is it legal to carry my gun on my coast guard documented vessel up and down the ICW, and;

I don't think it was all that buried. It really is very simple. There is no single answer. It varies from state to state (and possibly from county to county, or even city to city). Hence, you have to check the laws in each jurisdiction that you intend to pass through. He was given (more than once) a link to check to find the various laws.

Easy peasy. Just common sense, really (which these days seems to be all to UN-common!).

All the rest of the nonsense and "NOT TRUE!" responses is because so many people post idiotic and untrue things because... Well, I'm not sure why. Perhaps because they feel a compulsion to respond, even when they don't have the least clue what they're talking about.

Well it seems to me that if the constitution required that then it would also require states to honor and accept same sex marriages from other states and lets say heroin possession permits should any state care to enact one.

I think I got my answer. I need to get a Utah concealed carry license, in additional to my existing Virginia license, and a Maryland license.

I think I'll just leave my firearms with my Brother in law... at least then someone can get some use from them.
