Global Rescue Insurance

Anyone have any dealings with these guys?

https://www.globalrescue.com/index.cfm

Seems to me that for $500+\- a year for a family you get medical coverage and evacuation anywhere in the world and for $1,000+\- for a family up to 6 you also get a private security service escort if a country you are visiting goes ape sh*t.

I'm always weary of insurance companies...

Thoughts?

You intend to go to areas that need special operations teams to " extract" you. I mean surely the marine corp gets its own out .

Hey you never know. Hiking in rain soaked Peru, I'd like to know I could get an evac after a mudslide

I'm also quite sure there were cruisers who were in Egypt when that went to crap. Back up plans are always welcome in my house.

Re: Global Rescue Insurance

I think it is medical rescue/evacuation... not medical insurance. Seems like a great deal to me.... heck even a local helicopter airlift runs over $10k I believe.

Yea, the more I looked into it, I saw it was evacuations only. Thanks for the correction!

If their prices are right, $1,000 a year for a family of six for ANY kind of evacuation? Seems to be a damn good deal to me.

Re: Global Rescue Insurance

I've heard some of the cheapest evac insurance you can get is at the airport at one of those machines, they rely on last minute "fear of travel" and dont have to pay out often. Never checked it out myself...

Re: Global Rescue Insurance

I think it is more directed at skiers, mountain climbers, rafters and other back wood adventurers that might need help getting out after a major injury.

Not so much for sailors going off to third world countries. Do these guys pack heat?

Re: Global Rescue Insurance

Actually it quotes based on your time out of country... up to 1 year or even 5 years!
