Agree totally. Tried this 15 years ago when I was still getting seasick even walking on a floating dock. Ginger capsules made my stomach burn terribly, which certainly did not help with seasickness. Slowly nibbling on dry ginger snaps is a much better idea, but don't expect miracles. Ginger in whatever form suits you best might help with seasickness but it won't prevent it or provide much alleviation of symptoms.

Good point. The capsules were very overpowering & lingering... when coming up!! They added if not caused the sea sickness.

My wife votes for crystallized (candied) ginger coated in chocolate.

She will vote for anything with chocolate, but she says it helps.

She has it nailed; crystallized (candied) ginger coated in chocolate helps ANY situation; in fact one doesn't even need a "situation" for the product to be helpful!

Im always sick unless im very involved in something to ocupy my mind, but not sorting out tangled fishing lines or anything down below. Watching the horizon is prolly the best for me.

I shall try ginger in future if I ever get a half decent wave under my feet again. Ive been brewing 5 gallons of ginger beer every week for the past 2 months and drink it for breakfast. I use twice as much of everything plus bakers yeast for a longer dryer, more alcofrolic content, typ @ 8% abv.
It helps start the day with a buzz.

It doesnt pay to have everything moving at once, so if boat is stable, I know everything else is down to me. Im trying to get some halyards slapping the mast, just to make it more authentic though.

Now there's an idea! I always thought it was wrong to start the day off with alcohol, but Ginger Beer is OK, its good for my condition!

Here in Fl. about anywhere you can get a ginger tea drink by Traditional Medicinals called Organic Ginger Aid. A tea bag that I just drop into my 1 qt water bottle and sip on constantly. Each bag good for 1 refill. Sun tea style. I am terribly prone to sea sickness and can claim good results with this tea, I also nibble on Papaya Enzyme tablets. Dave

I don't know why but somehow the sweetness is part of the cure for me... maybe helps the electrolytes stabilize if you are chumming...

If you just cut up candied ginger and boil it for tea, it comes out strong and sweet. Of course the ultimate cure for seasickness is MJ, go from puking to snacking in 15 minutes....

not only came with a lil barf bag, but the efficacy of remedies--stating mj as the best antiemetic known to gods and man....lol..... ginger was next, as i recall--my copy was stolen and i cannot find another, as is out of print... goood book if ye can find it--is small and green...

Nice! Green is good for seasickness. The Navy did tests and discovered color and light play a powerful role. They claim green is the best color to prevent seasickness. Seems counter-intuitive to me. And darkness is anathema, that's why boats with dark interiors create more Ralph...

Phenergan and Ondansetron are pretty good too, and won’t get you relieved of your boat if caught with it!
