Re: Ghost ship possibly found

From my Iphone Fox News app. 11-26-2013

Tomnot reports;" The images[of the area Nina is guesstimated to be] have
been viewed some 3.7 million times online, presumably by volunteer, virtual searchers."

According to the article if Nina is still afloat the crew could still be alive using
fresh rain water, and catching fish.

Hope springs eternal.

That's either a whole bunch of volunteer searchers or a few with short attention spans...Oh, it was Fox news...

Ah, so you work there. I was wondering who would have Fox news on their iPhone.

Sorry Viking Sailor, but Minaret doesn't allow references to religion, not matter how tangential. Please have consideration for his feelings. :-)

I'm perfectly OK with you guys talking religion all you want, as long as you're OK with me laughing at it and poking fun at the silliness. It's the forum rules that don't allow it! Personally, I love talking religion. It's always entertaining. In fact my wife has a degree in Religious Philosophy (excuse to spend college in India). I've read the Bible, the Quran, and the Bhagavad Gita cover to cover. Just to prepare myself for such conversations! So don't hold back on my account.

Re: Ghost ship possibly found

Any news on wether they were able to get a search plane out there? Watched the new Kon tiki movie (2011?). Reminded me of how you can be freakishly lucky or freakishly unlucky. I hope Nina is freakishly lucky. I'm using "luck" as to not stir the pot.

Re: Ghost ship possibly found

I've been following every post regarding the Nina and I just can't believe there is no evidence of either her sinking or floating around into oblivion.
I am on the hard in Canada, but my curiosity is huge.

Is there any news ??????

Big ships vanish without a trace, here is one to be going on with http://www.atsb.gov.au/media/25011/mair29_001.pdf

Two 200,000 ton sister ships ( Berge Vanga and Berge Istra) vanished almost without a trace ... they found two survivors from one of them drifting around about a month later... They said they were on deck at the time, there was an explosion and within 2 minutes the ship had vanished

It happens.

No news and in this case no news = bad news.

As for evidence, given the potential location(s) of her disappearance, prevailing weather and currents; I would be very surprised if something was found. It's a big lonely ocean out there.

It's way past the time (in my expectation) of any chance for them but it is part of the risks we all take in going to sea.

Why should there be evidence if she foundered

Re: Ghost ship possibly found

Wood floats... but I saw what came ashore from a 30 foot wooden boat that sailed on the ebb from Port Phillip into a heavy breaking sea about 20 something years ago......

Biggest bit that came ashore ( and quite a bit did ) was about 18 inches by 4 inches...

Re: Ghost ship possibly found (S/V NINA)

Not sure if this is the most recent thread about S/V NINA disappearance, but I just came across this article in the UK's Daily Mail and wanted to share:

Danielle Wright vanished on 'ghost ship' and her parents believe she is still ALIVE | Mail Online
