foul gear for racing - what to get, and where?
hello all
long time lurker, first time poster. i'm getting back into my local wednesday night series as crew on a yet, TBD boat. its been about 10 years since i was active, and since then have lost / chucked / donated al my foul gear. i'm tall and lean (6 foot, 155lb) and need to replace everything. any suggestions where to look and what to get? i'll need stuff for the series (which really isn't ever too nasty, but i like to have my bases covered) plus, i'll be doing some local multi-day trips in and around the channel islands. thanks for the suggestions. |

Hi, Sterling. Welcome to Cruisers Forum!
When I was getting ready to sail offshore for the first time, I asked every sailor that I knew for advice on which foul weather gear to buy. Every single one of them recommended the brand that they themselves had bought. I thought that was strange, but that's the way sailors are about their boats, too. Everyone thinks his is the best. Sooooo... I like my Gill breatheable fabric bibs and jacket when it's snotty, and I have a light-weight Gortex parka and pants set from L.L. Bean that I use when it's not to bad. Works for me!
