Any suggestions? Will wasps spray work?

I was anchored in this same spot for about 9 days back in July, and going on a week now, and this is the first I've seen of them. You think maybe they're just hiding from Earl?

Most of them seem to just be sitting in the same spot, on a cushion, on a rail, on a solar panel. They don't really appear to be nesting. Maybe after Earl passes, and once they realize the boat and nothing on deck are wood, they'll just leave?

Help! I would have taken those high winds over this.

Just think of how pretty the anchorage will be with all the little baby Gems flitting about.

Carpenter Bees are absolutely deadly to untreated plywood. They destroyed my cabin top many years ago. They tunnel through the edge with a hole pefectly round the diameter rougly the size of your index finger.
Wasp spray takes them out. If you find any holes like that in your woodwork make certain you saturate it completely. They are not honey bees.

They will bore through any wood, including pressure treated. I live in a rural area and deal with them often. I have seen them bore through treated lumber that was painted with exterior paint and I have the holes in my house to prove it.

Yes, bees have a purpose in the world. So do rattlesnakes, scorpions and termites. But I do not want any of them on my boat.

Looks like most of the left! There had to be upwards of 10 of them when I first posted this. Fortunately the only wood outside, is the dodger which is gelcoated.

The few stragglers, looks like 1 or 2 are getting sprayed before I pull out of here, sorry anjou

i love spray. spray saves my life. bugs dont belong on my boat--i dont care what kind they are. they threaten my masts, my coach house, my boat , my kat, or me, or even think of landing--they DIE!!!! there are enough of them that a few less in this world wont make a difference.

zeehag - Couldn't agree more! Just have to be careful. After leaving boat in frustration, and paying another day in an expensive parking spot, don't forget to wash your hands before getting lunch. Why are my eyes tearing?

Maybe anjou, but they're not on my boat.

The carpenter bees here are black and look like a bumble bee. They are in my fire wood so I don't bother them there but if they start chewing on my house or boat they are toast. Sorry to be so cruel but they have done a couple thousand dollars in damage and I can't pay for them to stay around. On the helpful side of the animal kingdom are our geckos and green lizards who take care of ants, mosquitoes, roaches, termites and such and I wouldn't harm one of those around the house or boat at any time.
