Re: Do you pee over the side?
Since so many people can't seem to pee INTO the toilet instead of on and around it, shouldn't this thread be titled "Do you pee all over your boat"?

I'm an old fart, I sit down on a boat, more so if it's underway.

Re: Do you pee over the side?
I have never really liked peeing over the side although it is much easier and safer on open transom boats but it just seems pointless to me and now that I'm older and go more often and spend more time doing I find that the perfect solution for me is a laundry detergent bottle down below. They have a large opening a built in handle and a good sealing lid and if you take it ashore to empty it it looks like, well, a laundry detergent bottle. Much better than those conspicuous red things they sell in the drug store that scream "look at me, ive got a jug full of pee" btw, we have a composter so the pee container on that is not big enough when you have a few people on board. The other thing is at night it is much more considerate to others on board rather than waking everyone up as you wander thru the boat to use the head or out the companionway to pee overboard. Its hard to be quiet on a boat at night.
Steve.

Re: Do you pee over the side?
An old fart, maybe, but obviously not an old sailor.
Traditionally, men used a kneeling board in front of the head. Something like a 2x10 with two semicircles cut out, so you could "kneel" with your legs in the semicircles and be guaranteed to hit the open bowl, without needing to drop your trousers and sit.
Actually easy enough to add to any new boat, but sure to mystify a number of crew.(G)

It's rare that I will pee overboard, maybe at night when I'm just checking things on deck, but I just don't do it underway.
Maybe I just don't have the PSI I used to as a teenager?

Hey....just addressing a conundrum brought up by our beloved Boatie!!!!

That would be hazardous; I would suggest a trapeze set up like used on small racing cats. Let yourself out until you are parallel with the sea; then let her go !
