While getting last minute stuff @ Wallyworld, I came across these cheap motion activated LED spot light, and A motion activated alrm.
I purchased the alrm and it is sooo loud it scared the bejeeeezus out of me., Easy to put in the cabin facing the hatchway for those trips ashore, also comes with a mount. The spotlight is more weather proof.

The motion sensing led would probably be best. The loud noise would probably just end up going off on you repeatedly, and never on a thief.
