'Tried that already last year. Got blown away too many times and smelled horribly after the water/bugs fermented for awhile.

Window screening seems like the best approach. I've seen it on the web up to 10' or something wide. Home Depot has it (so the guy at HD said) in stock at our local store with a 7' (7 feet....not 6 feet) width.
