Boat Seven Sisters Found Capsized

Can anyone tell if the skipper made it?

Sailing Savoir Faire

The boat has been found, capsized.

Oh man, that does not look like a story with a happy ending.

Looks like bird poo on the bow, been upside down for a while.

Maybe the grey cushion was for sleeping.

That's why an escape hatch on the underside of a hull of a catamaran is a good idea.

Lest anyone think I am against multihulls, this one evidently kept floating some long time after a capsize.

Re: Boat Seven Sisters Found Capsized

Any news or information about the skipper though?

Clearly, he made it thru the capsize but has he been rescued?

I think it is a pretty recent event, right?

What is the name of the capsized tri? Where did the picture come from? That link is very confusing, seems to be about other accidents/missing boats and has nothing to do with the tri.

Seven Sisters.

From a cargo that encountered the capsized boat.

The way it displayed on my browser the missing tri was the topmost. My screen dump attached.

USCG has the lead from the cargo but I cannot find any USCG official statement related. I have seen some posts on other web sites but no info if the skipper has been found or not.

Geez, Mark, THX.

I am in the old bad habit of thinking if I am online then everyone else must be. Mea culpa and thanks for doing the job!

I will be back here tomorrow (02:30 here in Las Palmas by now). Maybe some new bits of info pop up meanwhile.

Reagrds,

Re: Boat Seven Sisters Found Capsized

I hope the sailor (crew) is found and safe! I truly do.

I am surprised by the photos showing the boat (right side up).

I rarely say this, but that boat appears to me to be one of the most "unseaworthy" looking boats I have ever seen, just judging it by what I can see in a photo.

I like cats. I even admire some trimarans. I like pilot house boats. I like motor sailors. I like hydrofoils. I like ultralights.

But, that boat looks like it would be easy to capsize in ocean waves or high seas.

I read the article that was linked, where it says the owner sailed it in high winds off Kauai.

Still, that boat looks like something suitable for flat seas or bay conditions (low waves).

Am I alone in thinking this?

That is indeed a funky looking boat. Seems to look "top-heavy" to me. I sure hope he's ok.

Terrible design. It looks home made. He did not have an EPIRB? Obviously he come out of the boat so, why was the EPIRB not deployed?

Another one just a few weeks ago too where he didnt have EPIRB.

Looks like he slipped off his matt, or whilst doing lashings.

Sad. And just for the sake of an EPIRB.
