John,

So happy to hear you are on the mend. A lot of us around here, care a great deal about you and Mel.
Up with the snake charmers as well.

Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. The wife and I wish you a speedy recovery, and a quick trip back to Imagine in Panama.

Thanks also for all the words of wisdom and encouragement you have sent me, plus giving me valuable experience sailing with you on the first leg. When something comes up, I can just ask - what would John do? We are getting closer, just some loose ends to tie up and boatwork to do. Then it's "let the goodtimes roll"!

Excellent post for those who waste time away.... inspirational for many... not just for the 'Going Sailing' Brigade either.
Fingers crossed the recovery is complete in time for the Trades...

I am SO embarrassed...

When I read the first couple of paragraphs of your post... I'm ashamed to admit I thought..."What is it with these heart-on-your-sleeve yanks...?"

But, I'll read the posts of any CF member who actually sails and has notched up well over 3000 posts, and I2F's comments have been good value in the past.

A couple of paragraphs later I was totally involved, and by the end totally moved.

This is an extremely well presented, inspirational call to live and love life to the full, with a hell of a powerful personal story to underline it in bold.

Heart felt thanks, and if our paths ever cross it will be my pleasure to buy you a drink, of whatever you drink, even if it's green... and glows in the dark...

Stay well, I think you've earned the respect of many.

VV,

Thanks for continuing on with my little story. I appreciate the fact you realized it's not about me. It's about those who struggle with when to go. My fingers were crossed it would motivate at least one person, and if it did that....I am happy.......i2f

I2F - I joined this forum not long before you had to go off for your treatment and I wondered how you were doing when you occasionally popped in again. I'm glad that things are looking up for you. The point of the posting may not be directly about you but it is nice to know you are getting better.

As for the wife and me, we are slowly preparing ourselves because of our teenage children. Once they are independent then we can go off with a clear conscience, but until then we are accumulating skills and money.

Perhaps we'll meet up someday, out on the blue briney, but first I have to track down MarkJ and see if that homebrew he makes is any good.

Good luck with the treatment.

John,

Paula and I frequently talk about our party in Green Cove Springs with some of the CF members. We are so glad to hear you are getting better. We totally understand what you are talking about, so very true. Hope to see you again in the future....Good Luck and Fair Winds...
