not always in that order.... boat is confiscate-able in many countries for carrying/stashing/holding handguns. read the laws of the places to which ye are going and be ready. most places are still friendly to sailcruisers--many sailcruisers have aided folks in places they travel.....some with and some without the arrogance involved with the assumption of us citizenship..LOL....

You've caught me in an area of weakness. On our boat, the only choice of cocktails, other than for beer and wine, would be a gin and tonic--and I only stock Tangueray--or an Islay single-malt. Of the later, I'm only pouring Laphroaig these days.

So here's my favorite cocktail recipe: find a glass. clean it. pour in a shot or two of Laphroaig, the older the better. Serve at room temperature.

Umm that's the chance you take. If you are not willing to take the chance then do as some others here would do, Stand up, with your hands over your head and pray to god for the mercy of a boarder. I guess it comes down to sheep or wolf. Which one are you? Do you fight or surrender in the highly unlikely event (according to some) that someone may try to board you for nasty reasons.

I have a steel boat, and will take my chances on fire. I will also defend my boat. I've worked too long and hard for some SOB to take it from me. I'm one of those who is willing to fight to the death for what is mine. Ergo my participation in any discussion on self defense, be it on land or sea.

I have not paid as close attention to this thread as I should have, and for that I take full responsibility. Now, though, I have read it from the opening post to the end, culling references to bomb-making materials and/or advice, entire posts and a few other questionable ideas.

I will not, however, send anyone a PM explaining what was deleted or why - if something you posted in this thread has been deleted and you need an explanation, I feel sorry for you. If anyone attempts to start another thread like this one, dispensing advice on making bombs, it will be removed without comment.
