Here's a Summer storm that hit the West side of Lake Michigan off Kenosha on 9/12/13. These storms, when they occur at night, have been responsible for the loss of many ships--large and small and are difficult to outrun even when visible during daylight. Good luck and safe sailing.

I remember sitting (well back) at the entrance to Holland and watching a 40' coast guard boat 1/4 mile out disappear completely from view as it dropped in the troughs.

They went out, picked a wave and high tailed it back in. Online, it was saying 30' waves and I could believe it.
