The sticky trap worked, sort of. I doubt it did mortal damage. He basically managed to flip it upside down then wiggled over to a crack that the trap wouldn't fit down but he could. And yeah, there was a line tied to it.
No photos pleeeeeeeeeeease! Had all I can take for one day after reading David's mouse thread LOL.

I agree about the peanut butter. The smart little bastards stole the cheese, no matter how we affixed it. Cream cheese might work.

Re: A Damn Mouse

I've had success with those sticky traps. Place them in a "mouse traffic" area and wait. This way you wont need to find the body. Use several. non-toxic and no mess. Additionally, being the sap that I am, after they are caught there is no getting out. I assassinate them with a pellet gun so they dont suffer.

Re: A Damn Mouse

Hope you have not created a Nietzsche Mouse (what does not kill it makes it stronger or smarter). You are only putting the peanut butter on the trigger plate of the mousetrap right? I'd put just a little squeezed into the trigger plate loop. Make the bugger work for the meal and you might have better luck that he trips it.

Re: A Damn Mouse

The simplest trap I've ever seen work is to take a five gallon bucket and put bait in the bottom. Then just leave it. The mouse will jump in to get the bait and cannot get out.

Re: A Damn Mouse

I've seen a mouse jump out of a 55 gallon barrel. Throw the sticky trap he was in, away now. It has his sent on it. Maybe try to duct tape one down. As you see, they cannot resist P-butter. You'll get him.

Re: A Damn Mouse

if you are in marina la cruz, it is a rat. sorry . there is rat poison in the rocks, so there are no more gatos to kill them, and they proliferate. might consider a rat dog or a cat for the boat--the critters are difficult to be rid of in mexico--i didnt get ratones, but cucaroches kept bubba entertained as he hunted and killed them as they flew to my boat...
good luck and happy hunting.....

Re: A Damn Mouse

My grandmother was a great mouser. She used the same trap for decades. I don't think a mouse ever made it to see the sunrise, once she set the trap. She always used peanut butter. Keep at it. You'll get him...or her.

Re: A Damn Mouse

the 5 gallon bucket does work, but you have to put water in it so they cant touch the bottom and jump out. check out the video

Bringing in the artillery. 3 more rat traps, a dozen mouse traps, two more glue traps, poison to put off the boat in opportunistic areas.

Bards will sing songs about the violence that begins at dusk.
