Marine traffic works by using volunteer run ais feeds from shore stations. I doubt there's any in thoses areas a

The big advantage of having life ship AIS data via Marine Traffic is that they are available via your browser.

One has carefully to compare pros and cons if one is seeking to have deep sea AIS tracks by using Satellite based AIS data.

I was aware of exact earth I understood it was in a testing phase ( see panbo.com) the data is only available to IMO certified competent bodies.

Maybe it was a testing phase. But the way it is worded on the site it seems to suggest the thing is up and running. Wouldn't you agree?

I was only pointing at the fact that local is not global, and that global is (apparenty, read Dave's comment) available.

Re: Worldwide AIS Site

There's also this, that i tried from a post in another thread.

ViewAIS

"http://vtslite.siitech.com/VTSLite/AView.aspx?lat=53.2117897903992&lng=6.577720642089 84&zoom=13&mmsi=123456243" if my copy and paste didn't work...gee I wonder if I could paste in a different startup lat and long?It starts in Holland but can be zoomed out and dragged.Several choices in the toolbar.

and MarineTraffic vessels on Google Earth, in Real-TimeKMZ

which is again MarineTraffic.com but a way to have it in your google earth install...
